Agate Street Beach

BEST BEACH FOR: Anyone who wants a trouble-free day and a clean stretch of sand.

Agate Street Beach might not be Laguna's most famous stretch of sand, but that's what makes this spot such a gem. Backed by towering sandstone cliffs and a few stunning homes, this beach is perfect for laid-back types who want to lounge without the crowds. Whether you're there to picnic, soak in the ocean, or watch the sunset from the viewing platform, halfway up the concrete steps, Agate keeps it mellow for locals and visitors alike. The keyword here is ease. The beach is far enough south on PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) that parking is readily available, even in the summer months. Access is simple too, with a newly unveiled staircase, bike rack, and bench. Once you reach the sand, the trend continues – you can tuck right up to the cliffs with a beach blanket and settle in to watch the sunset. There's almost always plenty of space.

Surfing is allowed during the winter and summer mornings and evenings, but from 12pm-5pm from June 15- September 15, this beach is for swimmers only. With the controlled environment and the coziness created by the scenic rock formations, Agate Street Beach is a win for anyone craving a slice of seclusion without too much effort.
