Sleepy Hollow Beach

BEST BEACH FOR: Couples who want a little more tranquility or privacy than Main Beach affords.

Sleepy Hollow Beach, Laguna Beach

Hands down, this has to be the most accurately named beach in Laguna Beach. It is indeed sleepy – especially considering its proximity to bustling Main Beach. Locals walking their dogs, and coffees in hand, are perhaps the most common sight here. It’s also a low-key surf spot, beloved by local surfers hoping to escape the crowds on a big swell.

Wander a few steps north of the Sleep Hollow stairs, away from Pacific Edge Hotel, and you’re sure to find more than enough room to spread out – even at the height of summer. Use this as a home base, allowing you to wander south to the better-known surf breaks or north toward Main Beach. Extra points if you score a selfie beside the blue mandala-inspired mural that unofficially separates the two.

Parking at Sleepy Hollow Beach is a little tricky. Pacific Edge Hotel and its two restaurants, Driftwood Kitchen and The Deck, have valet service. Otherwise, you’re likely to be on PCH. It’s a wise-idea to pack light and just wander to Sleepy Hollow from downtown, either along the beach or from the road. The beach is reached by a long staircase which is a breeze to find, but doesn’t have showers, bathrooms, or wheelchair access.
