Explore West Street Beach
West Street Beach, Laguna Beach

With so many beaches in Laguna, it’s nice to have a few that aren’t on everyone’s radar. There’s much to be said for beaches like West Street, that are trickier to get to and therefore less crowded – even during the peak summer season.

Just around the headland at the south end of Aliso Creek Beach, West Street Beach has a lot going for it. Huge expanses of sand, abundant tide pools, and a welcoming atmosphere make this an excellent pick for the intrepid few who aren’t overly worried about parking. The warm vibes of the beach seem to be rooted in West Street’s progressive history. It was famously known as Laguna’s preeminent gay beach for decades and is still extremely popular within the LGBTQ community.

Park on Pacific Coast Highway or in the neighborhoods around West Street. From where West Street meets Pacific Coast Highway, a long, shady footpath will lead you to paradise. To the south, you’ll find volleyball courts. Heading north, there are tide pools to explore. In between sits a huge swath of sand that absolutely never seems to be overcrowded.
