As COVID-19 continues to evolve, Visit Laguna Beach is committed to keeping you informed of the latest developments. The safety, health, and wellbeing of our community, its residents and visitors, is of utmost importance and we are committed to doing everything we can to support and respond to the situation. 

At this time in relation to the Omicron and Delta variants, our state and local safety measures require masks to be worn in all indoor venues and places of business.

  • Latest Updates

    The US is open to many vaccinated international travelers and continues to be open to all US residents. 

    Face Coverings No Longer Required

    Governor Newsom and the California Department of Public Health announced that facemasks will no longer be required in the State of California in most indoor venues effective March 1, 2022. Masks will be strongly recommended for those that are unvaccinated. Masks will still be required for everyone in high transmission settings like public transit, emergency shelters, health care settings, correctional facilities, homeless shelters and long-term care facilities.

    TSA is no longer enforcing the federal mask mandate for planes and airports.

    Omicron Variant Update

    • Beginning on 12/2/21 the mandatory mask requirement for travelers is extended to March 2022. 
    • International travelers must be tested for the coronavirus one day before departing for the United States. 

    Unvaccinated Americans traveling internationally will have to test within one day of departure and be required to test again after their arrival.

    The CDC will also require airlines to collect information for each U.S.-bound traveler, including their phone number and email address, to aid public health officials in contact tracing.

    California encourages visitors and residents to get vaccinated and, the CDC's updated mask guidance urges vaccinated people to mask up indoors in places with high virus transmission. 

    • All state and national parks and beaches are open, with only limited closures at some sites.
    • Visitors are encouraged to be vaccinated before coming to California, but it is not a requirement to travel.
    • Operators of large outdoor events of more than 10,000 people, including professional sporting events and some theme parks, are encouraged to screen attendees for vaccinations or negative COVID-19 tests, but screening is not mandatory.
    • Operators of large indoor events of more than 5,000 people are required to screen attendees for vaccinations or negative COVID-19 tests. Attendees should check guidelines with event operators when buying tickets or making reservations.
