After a long week of doing the business of life, there's nothing quite like taking a leisurely brunch with friends and/or family.
There's something about this brilliant meal that combines breakfast and lunch into one long feast that focuses on the art of food, drink and conversation that has taken hold of the American psyche. The origin of brunch is a bit murky, though we do know it was first mentioned in print in an 1859 article in HUNTER'S WEEKLY and by the 1930s had become a wide spread tradition in the United States. By the 1980s, brunch was wildly popular from coast to coast, and now in the 2000s it is as important to our food culture as hamburgers and fries.
Here we give you the top four places to celebrate the tradition of brunching in Laguna Beach.
The Lumberyard opened its doors in 2008, after a complete remodel. It is named after the original company occupying the site, The Laguna Lumber Company, which was the longest running company in Laguna Beach, in business from 1910 to 1985. Wanting to stay true to the original integrity of the 1912 building, inside no detail has been left to chance with custom booths, a horseshoe-shaped bar, artisan woodwork throughout, and a beautiful 12,000-piece mesquite wood floor entrance. They've also got two 60" TVs and one 80" TV for you to watch the game.
